ENROLLMENT PREREQUISITES

To apply for CIPA training and certification one must have a high school or higher level diploma. Applicants must have prerequisite knowledge and minimum skills in the following areas:

P&C insurance agency operation
General accounting
Computer and Internet use
Typing skills

Anyone meeting the prerequisite requirements may apply for CIPA training and certification, whether currently employed by a P&C insurance agency or not. Paulmar Software encourages those with customer service or accounting experience in a P&C agency, persons with applicable experience in the lending industry, graduates with college degree in accounting or business administration, or anyone familiar with the business of P&C insurance industry to apply for training and certification.

The CIPA positions will be available nationwide.

AGENCY OPERATION PREREQUISITES

Applicants for the CIPA training must have general knowledge of the P&C insurance agency operation. The following is a list of terms and processes related to premium funds management applicants must be familiar with:

Gross premium, net premium, commission
Premium quotes
Policy binding
Installment schedule
Premium billing
Premium payment and bank deposits
Company statement
Company remittance check
Remittance check voucher

GENERAL ACCOUNTING PREREQUISITES

Applicants for the CIPA training must be familiar with general accounting terminology and principals. The following is a list of terms and processes applicants are required to be familiar with:

T-accounts, debit, credit, balance
Chart of accounts
Classification of accounts: assets, liabilities, capital, income, and expenses
Posting to ledger accounts
Income
Expenses
Profit or Loss
Sales, cash sales, sales on account
Receivables
Payables
Balance Sheet
Income Statement

TYPING SKILLS PREREQUISITES

Applicants for the CIPA training must be able to use the keyboard without looking at the keys. A minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute is required.
